Partnership on the Appalachian Trail
The Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation (ALEF) and Charles Janssen have agreed to work together to test the endurance of a Pittsburg State University track star as he traverses the Appalachian Trail ( all 2184 miles) and to continue the mission of ALEF to support smart, articulate, committed young men and women from West Virginia as they focus on the importance of work skills, character and leadership skills.
Charles is an education major who is passionate about becoming a teacher, but wants to challenge himself with a notable personal and professional achievement prior to entering his teaching career. He will begin the Appalachian Trail course on the 24th of July with a plan and a goal – to travel the entire Trail and to raise scholarship money for ALEF.
