Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation
Selects New Fellows — the Delta Class

(Learn more about all of the Fellows)

Joining the 42 current Fellows of the Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation (ALEF), a new class—the Delta Class—has been selected.  The Delta Class will begin their college education with partnering universities—Concord University,  Shepherd University, and Marshall University.

“This class of Fellows, once again, represents the best West Virginia has to offer.  They all have extraordinary grades and have demonstrated their character and leadership potential in a multitude of school and community organizations.  We are delighted to welcome this next generation of leaders for our communities, our state, and our nation into ALEF,”  said General Robert H. Foglesong, founder and CEO of ALEF.  Foglesong interviewed all the new Fellows and led the selection process.

The average GPA for the Delta Class was extraordinary (3.78) and the average ACT score (25.3) was indicative of the intellect of this group of young men and women.  The Delta Class is full of class presidents, team captains, and academic over achievers.  They come from many different communities around the state.

The Delta Class consists of the following Fellows:

  • Erin Asbury from Greenbrier East High School
  • Gabrielle Bartlett from Keyser High School
  • Thomas Bland from Wyoming East High School
  • Melva Mounts-Blankenship from Gilbert High Schoo
  • Miranda Daniel from Liberty High School
  • Jarrod Brett Dotson from Gilbert High School
  • Joseph Hansroth from Berkeley Springs High School
  • Randall Johnson from Wyoming East High School
  • Corey Kennedy from Westside High School
  • Marissa Kulp from Martinsburg High School
  • Jessica Lundy from Cabell Midland High School
  • Isaac Picklesimer from Williamson High School
  • Amber Stenson from Hedgesville High School

“This is the future—the leadership that we will depend on to ensure a strong, vibrant society that set the standard for the rest of the world to follow.  We in ALEF hope to help shape that future by helping to shape the character and leadership skills of this extraordinary group of West Virginians,” said General Foglesong.
